I was too busy dying with schoolwork to do any news roundups last week.
I know we had an ICYMI, but I wanted to share some other small news tidbit's that happened that wasn't included.
I'm posting this here instead of the blog since some of this is pretty old news. When I can get back into the rhythm of things current news roundups will be posted to the blog.

The Boyz Haknyeon Drowning
Last week was definitely a busy week for The Boyz.
On top of all the other stuff that happened last week, fans were angered after some behind the scenes clips from their Trigger promotions got revealed.
Haknyeon had a scene where he was swimming in water. The staff put weights on him and made him swim and dive around multiple times. He said the weights kept pulling him down and he was struggling to swim, and he expressed that he wasn't good at swimming in the first place.
He could have drowned. In the end, almost all the clips of him swimming in the water weren't even included in the video.
Haknyeon is known to be frequently mistreated by IST staff, but fans were particularly angered by this because this could have killed him.
The Boyz Eric
Eric was a very hot topic last week.
It all started when Eric went to post a picture for pepero day.
He grabbed the first "box of pepero" that he could find and posted a picture of it with two handwritten letters to fans.
After he posted the picture though, fans pointed out to him that it wasn't a box of pepero at all, but a box of "protection"
He quickly removed the photo, and thankfully the entire internet took this well thought this was hilarious.
The protection brand thought this was hilarious too and ended up posting an apology on instagram for confusing people and putting their product in the wrong section.
Something I want to shout out is that this brand seems to have a theme of making their packing look like food packaging, so it seems this is a common mistake people make.
Eric then went viral on the internet again the next day for a (thirst trap?) picture he posted which I will not be reposting here (it's not PG)
The picture he shared led to a very aggressive debate online about whether or not it's ok to sexualize idols when they are sharing suggestive pictures to fans.
Amber Liu New Side Quest
Photo from twitter
Amber from F(x) became the talk of twitter over a new job she's had.
Amber was recently seen selling for popmart on tiktok lives.
To give some more context:
- popmart is a store from China that sells collectable figurines. They have branches throughout Asia and recently started opening up stores in the US.
- Their most popular product is a doll line called "LaBouBou". They are collectable pastel monster creatures and it's literally impossible to get your hands on one they sell out so fast. They currently range from $20 to over $300.
- It has become a tiktok trend recently for stores to start selling their products on tiktok live similar to QVC commercials. During the live broadcast they will have special timed deals for products and you have within that time frame to snag the product and sale through clicking on their tiktok shop link in the live.
- Amber has recently started working/collaborating for Popmart on tiktok live as one of their live sales people. During these lives Amber works with the other popmart sales people and if you make a purchase during the live you can watch Amber personally pack your order for you on camera.
Got7 Owns Got7
I'm kinda surprised this wasn't mentioned here earlier, but after working with lawyers JayB, the leader of Got7, has officially finished gaining all the trademark rights to Got7. This includes everything from subunits, recordings, merch, performance, and more. They have also renewed their trademarks through 2034.
I don't really have an article link about this because fans were just sharing screenshots on twitter and no one linked to the source, so I apologize about this.
Minho Safety Whistle
Minho's merch for his solo concert dropped and it was trending very positively online!
His merch drop is all sports themed, soccer/football themed to be exact, but one piece of merch caught everyone's attention in particular.
He released a safety whistle for fans, it's supposed to look like a soccer referee whistle but it could also be used as a safety whistle for women to protect themselves.
Fan's hearts were very warmed by Minho's consideration for his fans/women's safety

I still have a few more news things to share, but I think i'll split that into a part 2 and post that later.
