New Jeans, a K-pop group managed by HYBE (formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment), is taking legal action against HYBE over the release of their trainee videos in a Dispatch article. Netizens believe that the videos were legally owned by Source Music, the company that trained the group before they were signed to HYBE, and that the members' parents should have read their contracts more carefully before signing.

Additionally, Min Hee Jin (MHJ), the creative director of New Jeans, is claiming that HYBE stole her concept for the group's debut, which was discussed in emails with Source Music higher-ups in 2021. Source Music has rebutted her claim and is threatening to strengthen their lawsuit against MHJ.

New Jeans' parents have also spoken out about the mistreatment their children faced during their training days. Minji's mother claims that the dorm was infested with roaches and mold, and that Minji was made to train until 2 am with no rest days while also attending school. Haerin and Hyejin's parents criticize HYBE for making them look like the "new fiftyfifty" and claim that they were promised to debut in HYBE's first girl group, but never heard back from them after signing contracts with Source Music.

Danielle's parents want to know who is responsible for leaking information about their daughter's training days and claim that it is not true that she was stolen from Source Music.

Finally, MHJ is suing several HYBE executives, including CEO Park Ji-won, Audit Committee Chairman Lim Soo-hyun, Chief Legal Officer Jeong Jin-soo, Chief Financial Officer Lee Kyung-joon, and Chief Communications Officer Park Tae-hee for alleged violations of business law and defamation.

For the "leaked" trainee videos : it was filmed by the company, it's mostly dance videos or photoshoots, so linked to their job. Nothing private or intimate. Source only wanted to prove that all NewJeans members were originally their trainees.

For the "stealing concept" : it is possible that HYBE wanted their "own" NewJeans "sound". BSH was against that idea at first but look how big NJ is nowadays. NJ and LS lineup were ready early 2022 and both debuted at a close date. I heard they promised MHJ to debut her group first (seniority is important) but LS debuted instead but with a different sound than NJ.
The "stealing" is more possible with ILL-IT, the Magnectic debut, the teasers, you can only think about NJ. I believe Belift had another idea, another concept for them but HYBE told them otherwise. That can explain why ILLIT lineup is quite odd and Yunah doesn't fit the debut concept. Minju also said in a video that they never trained for that concept, that's another clue.

The dorm, daily life and work life : it is sadly common in K-pop industry. But HYBE/Source isn't a nugu label, they have money to at least gave their trainee a decent dorm. No excuse for the mistreatment, abuse, etc.

NewJeans parents : the more they talk, the more I can't stand them. Of course they are now talking, strange timing right ? It's mostly a strategy with ADOR/MHJ.
If what they claimed is true, then they knew about it and still signed or didn't remove their child from Source. Hanni and Danielle who travelled far from home. Minji and Hyein who were literraly a child when they joined.
And regardless what MHJ said, true or false, they are always on her side. So it's hard to trust them. Overrall it's hard to trust anyone in this story.

Both side can't continue to work in the same building, in the same company, like that. But they need each other.

MHJ need HYBE's resources, money, staff, equipment, visibility, etc. otherwise her ideas won't be able to be expressed as well or to get as much attention.
HYBE need MHJ since NJ is heavily linked to her, she got the concept, the marketing, the experience, she's the mastermind and no one can replace her. If someone else takes her position NJ won't be the same and I doubt the members and their parents are willingly to work with the new team, they rather follow MHJ in hell.
